I'd like to introduce you to my mom, a woman who trusted in God, totally and completely. She developed polio in 1956. She was 26 and I was 4 years old. My father was devoted to her, and she depended on him completely as she was paralyzed from nipple line down...
When he passed in 1989, she was now living alone. Mom held two jobs, both as dispatchers for Catholic Charities and then The Beekeeper! Oh yes, and she was president of her church counsel. I hope I've managed to convey how strong she was in her faith.
This bracelet was created from a spoon out of my mom's sterling flatware which she started collecting as a wedding gift.
Times have changed and with that came more practical wedding gifts (like a tall stainless steel kitchen waste can for instance!) Its my good fortune that she didn't stop collecting until she had acquired a place setting for eight, along with several nice serving pieces. She died in 2001 along with a post war era loaded with nostalgia and a different set of values...
One of my reasons for making bracelets using her flat wear is to give it a second life and to share with you my amazing mom.
